Construction and management of this project is overseen by Kham Aid, who has been running greenhouse programs in this region since 2003. The greenhouses are built with brick walls, steel frames, and hard plastic covers that have proven to withstand the harsh winter climate.
The 180-square meter Kham Aid sponsored greenhouse at Chengguan Boarding Primary School is an example of the program’s success: 360 students eat fresh vegetables for lunch, plus 70 more children enjoy them for dinner. The cost of this greenhouse was approximately USD$7,500.
